Hey there! I’m Anne, a.k.a. Miss Hormonal, a certified health and wellness coach who’s all tangled up in a love affair with nutritious food, energizing movement, and really anything and everything that helps manage stress and leaves me with a sense of calm and well-being. And I realize that if you’re not on the same page with me, you might find all that just a little (or even a whole whopping lot) annoying.
I get it!
That’s because I didn’t used to appreciate all this wellness stuff either. In fact, I was more of a carb craving, sugar indulging, couch magnet who struggled to fall out of bed in the morning and just really “didn’t have the time” to do anything that might improve my health.
And as a result, for way too many years I fell victim to my crazy, unbalanced, and all over the place hormones. I looked sort of healthy. Or at least I thought I did as long as I somehow managed to squeeze my bum into my favorite jeans. But in the meantime, my insides were crying out for help as my hormones buzzed around and danced about all off kilter, wreaking havoc everywhere they went.
Most of the time, I felt like crap. Mentally. Physically. Emotionally.
I had PMS… the kind that turned me into some raving bitch who I didn’t know… and more to the point… I didn’t want to know. It seemed to last for about two weeks out of every month. Was it PPMD? I never sought out a diagnosis, but it sure did seem that way.
I also suffered with pain… the kind that left me laid up on the couch with maximum doses of anti-inflammatory medications coursing through my veins that didn’t provide any relief. I was unable to move. Then when I could get around enough to get myself in to see the doc, I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts and kidney stones - at the same time.
But all these issues played out in the shadows of a much bigger one, something called intraductal papilloma. Over the course of ten plus years, it involved ten surgeries on top of unspeakable anxiety… until it all ended with precancerous cells and a bilateral mastectomy.
Through all that, I just thought I was sort of unlucky… like I’d grabbed onto a short stick in the genetic lottery. I learned to live with it and braced myself for the next health misadventure.
I didn’t think I had a choice.
Now I know differently.
And that’s a darned good thing because I’ve entered the perimenopause years when our hormones do their best to make us feel crazy. I’m not going to let my hormones get the best of me.
You don’t have to either.
As I experienced all those health woes, I lacked information about my conditions as well as the motivation to seek it out. I didn’t understand the critical role of nutrition and self-care in preventing disease and managing health. I considered myself a victim of genetics. And I was a passive one at that.
Does that line of thinking sound familiar to you?
Well then let’s work together and change that!
Because we do have more than a little control over our heath.
In fact, the reason behind 75 to 90 percent of all doctor’s office visits links back to stress-related conditions! And that’s just one in a sea of statistics. Then poor nutrition buddies up with stress, and on and on it goes.
But guess what?
We do have influence over our health. We can learn to manage our stress and eat healthier foods so that we feel better and avoid the onset of chronic disease.
So, I’m here to guide you through the process of gaining that influence and taking charge of your well-being. It’s all about planning, accountability, and follow through. I’ve walked along the tightrope of precarious health, and I want nothing more than to prevent you from doing the same.
I will help you achieve hormonal balance so that you can live the happiest and healthiest version of your perimenopausal-style life. You’ll reclaim your mental health. You’ll sleep better. You’ll lose weight. You’ll feel amazing.
We’re in this together.
Let’s get started!
